Accredited Home Care’s History

Fresh from graduation from Arizona State University (BA, Business), Accredited Home Care President Barry Berger quickly learned the ropes of the home care industry from a competitor. Driven to better serve the needs of a growing elderly population, he convinced his parents to extend a loan and founded Accredited Home Care Services in 1980.

According to Berger, “It took a bit of convincing, but in the end, my parents embraced my vision as to what needed to be done. I put together a business plan, rented the office space, and started contacting every potential resource on my Rolodex.”

From modest beginnings in a two-room office in Van Nuys, California with his father as the lone employee, Barry began his quest to provide superior in-home care to local residents. Little did he know that over three decades later, Accredited Home Care would expand to service more than 15,000 patients annually through its five offices located in Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego Counties, nor did he know that his company would employ over 100 office staff and 3,000 field nurses and caregivers.

“We’ve established Accredited Home Care as the area’s one-stop shop for the continuum of home health care needs,” states Barry, “and that’s something that our entire staff can be very proud of.”

Barry never forgets his roots. His compassion for elder care needs and the disabled, his constant drive to raise the bar and enhance the quality of in home care services, and his loyalty and commitment to his staff are the reasons for Accredited Home Care’s continued successes.
